Board Requirements for Certification and Renewal

The Benefits & Value of a Credible Certification

The American Naturopathic Medical Certification Board (ANMCB) is a professional membership that protects your rights to practice. Board certification is a highly regarded credential that distinguishes you from your peers. Unlike other certification boards, ANMCB verifies your knowledge with a comprehensive peer-reviewed examination and provides resources for current industry questions.

Licensing Vs. Certification

The professional competence of an individual can be assessed by two recognized mechanisms: licensing or certification.

Licensing by definition is a mandatory requirement and is usually administered and controlled by State Government entities.

Certification, on the other hand, is a voluntary professional commitment that is the most practical alternative. The American Naturopathic Medical Certification Board believes that one national certification program is preferable to a multitude of possible state programs. Certification is not new or unique. Many professions and para-professions have developed and supported certification as an alternative to licensing or other forms of regulation.

Do you know your State's Naturopathic Legislative laws? Where you can practice, what title you can legally use in your State? For a detailed Map of State's legislative Naturopathic laws please visit ANMA-anma.org.

Education Choices

As in any career, it is advised to join a supportive professional membership group. American Naturopathic Medical Association (ANMA) is a professional membership group that has been active in the field of Naturopathy for nearly 40 years. It is the most active, oldest, largest and most respected Naturopathic Association, earning the reputation for being up to date on state laws, actively aware of the legislative process and supporting legislative laws that would not prevent our Accredited School Graduates from practicing Naturopathy.

The ANMA believes, as most practitioners believe, that Naturopathy is strictly noninvasive Natural Healthcare Therapy and does not involve prescriptions, surgery, medical procedures or the claims to cure diseases. ANMA member's range from students, Naturopaths, Nutritionist, Herbalist, Holistic Health Practitioner, Natural Health Care Practitioners, and MD/DC/DO/RN/DDS, with additional training in naturopathy.
